Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning manually exfoliates your skin to remove dead skin build up and vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.” A sharp blade is held at a 45-degree angle to gently scrape the outer layer of the skin.

Benefits:

Dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and dull skin. The exfoliation and hair removal can leave your skin brighter and smoother.

Preparing for your Dermaplane:

  • Stop using any exfoliants at least 5 days prior to appointment. This includes products that contain AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, microbeads, and retinoids.

  • Avoid over exposure to the sun. Sunlight can leave your skin sensitive or burnt which can cause irritation.

  • Do not do any facial waxing at least 1 week prior to appointment.

POST DERMAPLANE CARE:

  • Avoid harsh or abrasive skincare products for at least 2 days after your dermaplane appointment.

  • Apply SPF generously, your skin is going to be more sensitive to the sun’s harsh UV rays. This increases your chances of burning. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Ask your esthetician for product recommendations that would be the best fit for your skin.

  • Avoid touching your face; this can introduce bacteria to the skin and cause irritation. Make sure to thoroughly wash your hands before applying any products.

  • Hydration, Hydration, Hydration! Dermaplaning can leave your skin feeling a bit dry and sensitive. Be sure to apply a gentle moisturizer and drink plenty of water daily.

  • Do not wear make up for 24 hours after your service. This will give your skin time to heal and recover.
